The new 16 Megapixel camera from Avigilon sets new standards for
video surveillance. Just one camera can provide "the equivalent
resolution of over 50 conventional surveillance cameras and can be
seamlessly integrated into any existing surveillance system for remote
monitoring".
Megapixel cameras have already become the standard in consumer
digital cameras and cell phones, the higher the pixel count the better
the image. However, when it comes to video security systems, many
still utilize analog cameras. In comparison, a basic analog video
camera only provides approximately 0.4 megapixels as compared to
megapixel cameras providing up to 16 megapixels.
The downward economy has forced us all to be more diligent and
demand improved efficiency and value of the products and services
we purchase. Security should be no exception. So why comprise on
the sole purpose for having a security surveillance system.

During the past several weeks my colleagues and I have
participated in a series of meetings with officials from the
Illinois Department of Transportation, Department of Homeland
Security, Communication Section-Illinois State Police,
Statewide Terrorism and Intelligent Center, Steven County
Highway Department, IDOT Maintenance Group, Illinois State
Police Department of Identification and FEMA to introduce a
more advanced facial recognition access control system.
TES (Trusted eSentry Security System) from American RFID,
offers a method of automating the authentication process
through facial recognition without the use of a central
database. As a result, our system can be used to more
effectively control access to a location or deny operation
whether stationary or mobile. In addition to building security, it
was highly suggested that our system could also be used on
trains, busses, trucks or any vehicle of high risk and/or value
without the need or expense of requiring the installation of a
communication grid to a central data point. TES provides an
entire authentication process which is contained within each of
the units themselves providing for a completely
mobile/stand-alone operation.
